Signs of memory and identity: Denis Kolomyckis exhibition at Vilnius Town Hall
On July 2, a solo exhibition by artist Denis Kolomyckis titled "Embellishments" opens at the Vilnius Town Hall, presenting paintings and objects created during different periods of his career. The exhibition invites visitors to see in one space how the artist's themes, thinking, and modes of expression have changed over a decade, while maintaining a consistent focus on human experience, memory, and identity.
D. Kolomyckis creates in various media – from performance and installation to painting, photography, and objects. In his works, personal experiences, social encounters, and fragments of everyday life become part of broader narratives about a person's relationship with themselves, others, and the environment. The artist is interested in how we remember, what we preserve, and what we forget.
"This exhibition is not an attempt for me to summarize my work. It is a meeting with different layers of time – works that return like memories, sometimes clear, sometimes fragmentary," says D. Kolomyckis.
The exhibition title "Embellishments" speaks to returning to memories, experiences, and states that take on new meanings over time. The historic space of the Vilnius Town Hall provides additional context to the exhibition, turning it into a conversation about the connection between the past, present, and identity.
The exhibition will run until July 30, 2026.
Visitors are welcome on weekdays from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
