A walk through Lukiškės Prison

It has never been so easy to escape into prison... The historical complex of Lukiškės Prison, surrounded by a high wall, is beginning a new life and invites you to take a walk through it.

Visiting this prison might not answer all your questions, but who wouldn't want to take a peek at the other side of the law? During the walk with our professional guide-warden, you will get acquainted with the history of the origin of this architectural complex (which is included in the architectural heritage of Lithuania), its architecture, and the daily life of the prisoners.

The first prisoners were brought to Lukiškės Prison in 1904, and since then, this place of detention functioned continuously until July 2, 2019. The prison was designed after the example of the famous "Kresty" in Saint Petersburg; the author of the project was A. G. Trambitsky.

During the walk, do not hesitate to ask questions. Our guides have spent a lot of time in prison and have seen a lot with their own eyes, so they will tell you like no one else - honestly, simply, and a bit shockingly. You will learn who the "container people" are, how to "push a horse," be surprised by the ingenuity of the convicts, see what remains of St. Nicholas Church and the Catholic chapel, visit and be able to try on the cells of life-sentenced prisoners, and much more.

In the new version of Lukiškės Prison, not only are introductory tours held, but various paid and free exhibitions, concerts, performances, private events, and fairs take place periodically; a bar and a dance floor are open, and more than 650 artists, musicians, dancers, designers, inventors, and other creative individuals have established their studios here.
