About this event

As the chilly autumn evenings set in, the experts of good music, "Bardai LT", invite you to warm your souls and visit a concert of sung poetry and romances on October 7th at 7:00 PM at St. Catherine's Church. The concert will feature original works by singing actor Olegas Ditkovskis and singer-songwriter Vilija Radvilė, while the beauty of romances will be performed by a duo from "Nalšia": Audronė Vakarinienė, Vilija Vaitkienė, and jazz pianist Rytas Lingė.

Singer-songwriter Vilija Radvilė has been delighting listeners for decades with cozy musical sounds and traveling through life with a song. Originally from Rokiškis, the creator is well-known and recognized among listeners of sung poetry. In her songs, Vilija sings about what is real, what opens the doors to freedom and the depths of the soul. About time and its weight, and doors opened to life. Vilija is always full of romance, aristocratic, and spiritual. Her songs are deep and meaningful. This is the music that uplifts, enchants, and heals hearts.

Singing actor Olegas Ditkovskis has been delighting listeners with his original songs for over 30 years. Olegas composes songs based on the verses of R. Stankevičius, J. Strielkūnas, S. Geda, J. Ivanauskaitė, Radauskas, A. Jonynas, and other poets. He is well-known to the public for his past roles in theater and cinema, as well as concerts with the group "Aktorių trio", where he performed original songs with colleagues Kostas Smoriginas and Saulius Bareikis. Later, he performed with Neda Malūnavičiūtė and Kostas Smoriginas in the "Love Triangle" project, and after it ended, he held concerts with Neda. Currently, he performs with his classmate, actor Saulius Bareikis, or, on special occasions, appears alone. This is how we will see him at the concert in St. Catherine's Church.

The exceptional, intricate, and enchanting lyricism of the most beautiful romances and the depth of poetry demand a special musical expression, a harmony of voices, and the ability to feel and convey the free flow of melody carried by emotions. Sometimes this is only possible between two or three performers. Therefore, two "Nalšia" singers – Audronė Vakarinienė and Vilija Vaitkienė – often choose to sing as a duo. The duo, daring to deviate from authentic musical and singing traditions, weaves the melodies and rhythms of romances along newer, more modern paths, seeking to bring romances back to life, elevating them to the level of works worthy of experiments, non-traditional interpretation, and high musical culture. The singers are assisted by professional, creative performer Rytas Lingė (piano). His playing enriches the arrangements of songs and romances with new, unexpected colors. But even when interpreted in a more modern way, romances remain what they have always been – the song of our hearts.
