One of the world's most famous tenors, Roberto Alagna, will perform in Lithuania for the first time. On March 25, at the Compensa concert hall in Vilnius, he will present the musical performance "Caruso. A Voice for Eternity" – an emotional story about the life, love, ambitions, jealousy, and voice of the legendary Enrico Caruso, which changed the history of opera.
"Caruso. A Voice for Eternity" is not a traditional opera concert or a biographical account. Historical facts are intertwined with fiction, and the story of Caruso's life becomes a theatrical drama with unexpected plot twists, vivid characters, and extremely diverse music – from opera and Italian songs to blues, rock, metal, and electronic music.
Roberto Alagna, who plays the lead role of Enrico Caruso in the show, says: "There are so many emotions here because the story itself is incredibly moving."
Ticket sales for the musical performance "Caruso. A Voice for Eternity" will begin on October 5 at 10:00 AM across the entire Bilietai.lt network. Subscribers to the "L Tips Agency" newsletter will be able to purchase tickets in advance starting October 2 at 10:00 AM (registration here: https://ltips.lv/lt).
The musical narrative transports the audience to the final years of Enrico Caruso's life and the America of the early 20th century – a world of immigration, social inequality, organized crime, and the struggle for influence. One of the central plot lines is Caruso's relationship with the then-manager of the Metropolitan Opera, Giulio Gatti-Casazza: initially bound by admiration and friendship, they are eventually torn apart by jealousy and competition. Alagna compares this story to that of Salieri and Mozart.
Roberto Alagna – nearly four decades on the world's greatest stages
For nearly four decades, Roberto Alagna's career has been inseparable from the world's most famous opera houses – the Paris National Opera, the New York Metropolitan Opera, London's Royal Opera House, Milan's La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The tenor's repertoire includes more than 60 roles, from Rodolfo in "La bohème" and Don José in "Carmen" to Otello, Calaf in "Turandot," and Lohengrin.
However, Alagna's work is not limited to opera – it brings together classical, popular, and traditional music, and his discography includes opera recordings, French chanson, and Italian and Neapolitan songs. Millions of his records have been sold worldwide. His connection to Enrico Caruso is also not new – one of Alagna's latest albums, "Caruso 1873," is dedicated to the legendary Italian tenor.
Roberto Alagna created "Caruso. A Voice for Eternity" together with French composer, guitarist, and arranger Jean-Félix Lalanne – the co-author, composer, and orchestrator of the work. Throughout his career, Lalanne has composed music for film and theater, concert and symphonic works, and has collaborated with Bonnie Tyler, John McLaughlin, Chet Atkins, and other well-known artists.
This is not the first joint project between him and Alagna – Lalanne created the musical "Al Capone," written specifically for the tenor, which premiered in 2023 at the legendary Folies Bergère theater in Paris. Their latest collaboration is "Caruso. A Voice for Eternity," which premiered in September 2026.
Tickets for the first performances of "Caruso. A Voice for Eternity" in France were sold out, and the newspaper "Le Dauphiné Libéré" highlighted the power of Roberto Alagna's voice, the strong team of performers, and the unexpected plot twists. On March 25, the Lithuanian audience will experience all of this as well – music, theater, the story of Enrico Caruso, and the exceptional talent of Roberto Alagna will come together on the stage of the Compensa concert hall in Vilnius. Tickets are distributed by BILIETAI.LT.
