This team of performers is the true elite of Lithuanian jazz, capable of gracing the most prestigious festival stages. Jazz Cellar 11 is proud to present for the first time in Vilnius the new project of this collective, "Born in 1959".
The creator of the project, Arkadijus Gotesmanas, was born in 1959 himself and celebrated his jubilee last year. However, 1959 was also important for the jazz world globally: many works and albums were born in the USA that radically changed this music genre. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Don Cherry discovered new forms of expression, and Ornette Coleman introduced the concept of free improvisation. This project is dedicated precisely to these jazz pioneers and their legacy.
The project is a dedication of our time, with most of the music created by the young and talented saxophonist, composer, and arranger Karolis Šarkus, widely known not only for his original projects but also for his performances with the Collaborative Jazz Septet and the Vilnius JJAZZ ensemble.
And alongside the project's creator and composer is a whole constellation of Lithuanian jazz stars: saxophonist Janas Maksimovičius, trumpeter Dominykas Vyšniauskas, pianist Dmitrijus Golovanovas, and bassist Eugenijus Kanevičius. Such a powerful team will ensure that this evening will be simply unforgettable.
The first 30 tickets are cheaper.
The "Jazz Cellar 11" club's concert project is partially funded by the Vilnius City Municipality.
