Baltijos gitarų kvartetas is one of the most prominent and longest-running guitar ensembles in Lithuania, having celebrated its 20th anniversary two years ago. Zigmas Čepulėnas, Sergej Krinicin, and Saulius S. Lipčius have been playing in the quartet since its inception, and since 2008, Belgian guitarist and composer Chris Ruebens has joined the collective. Abroad, Baltijos gitarų kvartetas is presented as one of the leading guitar ensembles in the Baltic states. Over more than two decades, the collective has performed in more than 25 countries around the world and appeared in prestigious concert halls and festivals. This time, Baltijos gitarų kvartetas presents its program at the Trakų Vokė Manor.
The program invites you on a musical journey from the shores of the Baltic to the sunny southern lands. It features "Colours of Baltic," dedicated to the quartet by Nejc Kuhar, Mykola Leontovych's "Shchedryk," inspired by Ukrainian traditions, and arrangements of M. K. Čiurlionis's preludes and Faustas Latėnas's music for guitar quartet. Southern colors are provided by Astor Piazzolla's "Adiós Nonino" and Edward Elgar's "Sevillana," and the concert concludes with the energetic cycle "Three Ukulele Dances" by quartet member Chris Ruebens.
