Opening Windows: an exhibition and a new work at Europos Parkas

A new work by artist Roxana Viotto, "Opening Windows," is being presented at Europos Parkas.

Exhibition curator Enzo Fornaro notes: "Roxana Viotto's sculpture explores the tensions between tactile and visual textures, boundary and openness, weight and lightness, matter and void. The sculpture is like a vertical window in the park's landscape – a poetic tool that invites the gaze to penetrate beyond the everyday and experience space with a broader, contemplative view."

The presentation of Roxana Viotto's work "Opening Windows" to the public is part of the project "Exhibition of Italian Artists at the Open-Air Museum of Europos Parkas," implemented by the Europos Parkas Museum. This project and the realization of the sculpture are partially funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture, Vilnius District Municipality, and EF International Service Art.

The presentation event and meeting with the artist will take place at Europos Parkas on Sunday, August 16, at 12:00 PM. The sculptor's husband, Miguel Navarro, a professional musician who plays various musical instruments, will also participate.

The open-air museum of modern and contemporary art covers an area of 55 hectares. The artistic ensemble of Europos Parkas consists of more than 100 works of art by artists from various countries around the world.

The museum's goal is to give meaning to the geographical center of the European continent, determined in 1989 by the French National Geographic Institute, through the language of art.

The museum's creator, sculptor Gintaras Karosas, is also the author of the landscape specifically shaped for the artworks.

Europos Parkas is being created as a unified, harmonious ensemble of nature and art.

This is the first non-governmental museum in Lithuania. Here are impressive works by the most famous contemporary artists: M. Abakanowicz, S. LeWitt, D. Oppenheim, and B. Pepper. Europos Parkas features Gintaras Karosas's sculpture made of television sets, recognized as a world record by the Guinness World Records agency, the sculptural architecture of the Education Center, and other works by this artist.

How to get here. The museum is located 19 km north of Vilnius city center. From Vilnius, drive along Kalvarijų Street to the Santariškės roundabout, turn in the direction of Žalieji Ežerai, and follow the road signs to Europos Parkas.
