"Artistai gyvai": Vladas Bagdonas and Audrius Balsys. "Bagdoniškos dainos"

On July 14, 2026, at 8:00 PM, Maestro Vladas Bagdonas will step onto the stage at the summer terrace of the live music bar "Artistai" (Kazimiero St. 3, Vilnius) in the capital. The artist, together with composer, pianist, and song arranger Audrius Balsys, will present his most beautiful songs in the program "Bagdoniškos dainos". What those songs are, how they will sound now, what new colors they will take on after dusting off the passage of time, and what the Vladas Bagdonas of today writes and sings about – this is a secret that will be revealed only during this one-time summer concert on the "Artistai" summer terrace.

Since the 1970s, Vladas Bagdonas has embodied legendary roles on the Lithuanian stage: Daukantas, Pirosmani, Othello, Faust, Zorba, and has collaborated with directors such as Dalia Tamulevičiūtė, Jonas Vaitkus, and Eimuntas Nekrošius. Music has often gone hand-in-hand with acting in his life: during his studies and later while working with composers Vygantas Telksnys and Alvydas Jegelevičius. However, when speaking about his musical performances, V. Bagdonas tends to be ironic: "I am not a musician, I am an artist acting out a concert." In 2017, the Maestro released an album of original songs titled "Liekantiems būti", and in 2020, a collection of his best songs titled "Medžio degimas". In 2025, his latest album "Bėk, Bagdonai, bėk" was released in CD and LP formats.
