Sustainability is often perceived today as a modern pursuit, but the archaeological exhibition "Used Again" invites you to view it as a daily reality for prehistoric communities. Living in a world where resources were limited, repairing, reusing, and repurposing objects was not a choice, but a necessity.
The archaeological finds presented in the exhibition reveal how people extended the "life" of objects – from carefully repaired jewelry and tools to items that acquired entirely new functions. Traces of repair testify not only to practical solutions but also to an emotional connection with objects, their value to the community and the individual. Sometimes, artifacts were reworked or repaired even when they were no longer suitable for daily use – for example, when preparing them for burial rituals.
The exhibition allows us to look at sustainability through a long-term perspective and reminds us that creative adaptation, responsible use of resources, and respect for objects were an integral part of human life long before modern discussions about consumption. Here, archaeological exhibits become not only witnesses of the past but also an invitation to reflect on our own relationship with objects, the environment, and culture.
The exhibition opens at the Old Arsenal on January 21, 2026, at 6:00 PM and will run until November 8, 2026.
