Masato Tamura, an Ainu culture researcher at the Upopoy National Ainu Museum, specializes in the history of the Sakhalin Ainu in the first half of the 20th century. He worked for several years at the Russian State Historical Archives of the Far East in Vladivostok, where he transcribed and deciphered the handwritten documents of the Polish ethnographer Bronisław Piłsudski.

In his lecture, he will talk in detail about Bronisław Piłsudski, his perspective on Ainu life, and the history of the Sakhalin Ainu community.

These lectures are accompanying events to the international exhibition currently held at the House of Histories, "A Man Between Worlds. The Ainu People in Northern Japan and Ethnographer Bronisław Piłsudski."

The exhibition will be open until August 2.

We invite you to visit the exhibition and learn about the works of Bronisław Piłsudski, the history and culture of the Ainu people, and contemporary Ainu identity.
