"Culture only survives as much as we are able to pass it on to our children." K. J.
“Adults Only” is a tragicomic theatrical and creative exploration directed by Justas Tertelis, seeking an answer to the question: how and when do we become adults? And… what does it even mean to be an adult today? Is it enough to simply cross the established biological age threshold (18) to be ready to take on all the responsibilities that come with entering the “adult world” – the right to vote, participate in the life of the state, drive, consume intoxicants, and be responsible for one's actions? A wonderful team of talented actors, well-known to theater audiences, masterfully juggles the themes presented in the play, holding up a mirror to us through recognizable and compelling characters. The variety of tragicomic situations the characters find themselves in will not let you get bored and will invite you to engage in the process of finding an answer: what kind of person can grow up in today's society? And who is responsible for that? Can anyone even be responsible for it? “Adults Only” is the latest play by Justas Tertelis, continuing the “Atviras ratas” theater laboratory's tradition of working with Lithuanian dramaturgy and speaking in an open theatrical language. The “Atviras ratas” style, very familiar to the theater's audience, creates a dialogue with the public through stage purity and simplicity, actors' roles, and the recognizability of everyday life on stage, inviting them to rethink, engage, and experience together themes that are relevant today but unspoken in society.
We invite you to recognize yourself while enjoying the theater!
