The Church Heritage Museum was opened to visitors in 2009, so this October we are celebrating our seventeenth birthday and, for the occasion, we invite you to participate in a tour dedicated to seventeen special exhibits. The museum presents the Cathedral Treasury, displays recently discovered royal burial items, hosts an exhibition on pilgrimage, and the Vilnius monasteries exhibition presents the diversity and heritage of monastic life. Here, you can also get acquainted with historical textiles and Italian portable organs.
However, amidst the abundance of exhibits, it is easy to overlook objects of special artistic or historical value, perhaps miss the Renaissance architectural elements in the space of St. Michael's Church, or even get lost in the corridors of the former Bernardine convent. Together with a guide, you will walk through the historical complex, discover seventeen unique objects, and hear seventeen short but intriguing stories. What do the museum staff themselves value the most? What would restorers, art historians, and exhibition curators pay attention to? And what will you like most in the museum?
Tour duration – 1 hour. Tour price – 1 EUR + visitor ticket (10 EUR, discounted – 5 EUR). Advance registration is required by phone at + 370 5 269 7800 or by email at edukacija@bpmuziejus.lt. Tickets can be purchased at the museum box office or via the Paysera Tickets system.
The museum's activities are funded by the Vilnius Archdiocese, the Lithuanian Council for Culture, and the Vilnius City Municipality.
