“Žemaitukai” storm the stadium: next summer they will hold the biggest concert of their career in Kaunas
It was officially announced today that a historic evening for the Lithuanian traditional pop music scene awaits on August 28 next year at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium in Kaunas. Having traveled the path from dormitories, weddings, and small-town stages to a sold-out arena in the country's largest city over more than a decade, “Žemaitukai” are announcing the most ambitious project of their career. On August 28, 2027, Linas Vaitkevičius and Ovidijus Petrauskas will hold their biggest concert at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium in Kaunas.
Tickets for the “Žemaitukai” concert will be available at all “Bilietai.lt” box offices and online at www.bilietai.lt starting Friday, September 11, at 10:00 AM. Two days earlier, from Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 AM, members of the “Live Nation Lietuva” club will be able to purchase tickets for the event. From “X Faktorius” to the country's biggest stages
The story of “Žemaitukai” began more than a decade ago. Having met during their studies and become roommates, Linas and Ovidijus noticed that their voices blended perfectly. As the artists themselves later recalled, their first duet spontaneously rang out in a dormitory shower.
In 2013, the guys, who didn't even have a name for their group yet, appeared in the second season of the TV3 project “X Faktorius”. Two Samogitians from Skuodas and Plungė immediately won the sympathy of the audience and the jury, and the television project became the beginning of their shared musical journey.
However, recognition did not come overnight. For many years, “Žemaitukai” performed at weddings, cafes, city and town festivals, sang songs by other artists, and patiently grew their circle of listeners. The decisive turning point occurred when the duo began creating original music and, having abandoned imposed stage personas, simply started being themselves.

Released in 2023, the fifteen-song album “Jeigu pasaulis priklausytų man” became an important creative turning point for the group. Listener-favorite tracks “Jeigu pasaulis priklausytų man”, “Su draugais”, “Gėlės”, “Dėl to pasaulis nesustoja”, “Nepabaigta istorija” recorded with the group “Grupė 2 – Karolis ir Donatas”, and the duet with Adrina “Man jau visko per daug” played on radio station charts and garnered millions of views.
Sold-out arena and major awards
Recent years have become a period of greatest recognition for “Žemaitukai”. At the M.A.M.A. 2024 awards, the duo was named Traditional Pop Music Group of the Year. At the 2025 M1 Music Awards, listeners voted “Žemaitukai” Group of the Year and awarded them the Breakthrough of the Year title. The duo has also won three awards from the radio station “Lietus”.
An even more prominent event in the group's career was the concert at the “Žalgirio” arena in Kaunas. Later, “Žemaitukai” held a concert tour, during which they visited Šiauliai, Klaipėda, and Panevėžys. Full arenas once again showed that the group's fan base has long outgrown small concert venues, which is why the next step, the stadium, seems not only ambitious but also completely natural to the artists.

Thanks to them, we have a very clear vision and have no doubt: we can do this. The time has come for a space that can accommodate everyone. We don't want anyone who wants to come to be left outside. There is no more fear. There is huge joy, anticipation, and a desire to once again experience that unique feeling when thousands of happy people are in front of you. This will be a huge celebration of Lithuanian music. We want us all to be there,” say Linas Vaitkevičius and Ovidijus Petrauskas.
The biggest concert of the “Žemaitukai” group's career is presented by the largest event organizer in the Baltic states, “Live Nation Lietuva”.
