"CAVEMAN" Comedy
DIRECTOR: Dainius Kazlauskas
CAST:
Caveman - Paulius Valaskevičius
A new version of the legendary comedy!
The comedy "Caveman", first staged on Broadway in 1996, became the longest-running solo show in Broadway history. Since then, the immensely popular work has spread across the globe and has been presented in more than 30 countries. In Lithuania, the play was first performed in 2005. It has been shown over 1,000 times in different cities across our country! The main and only character has been portrayed by actors Dainius Kazlauskas, Kostas Smoriginas, Darius Meškauskas, Vaidotas Martinaitis, and Giedrius Savickas.
In this brand-new production of the play, the role of the "Caveman" will be performed by actor Paulius Valaskevičius, well-known to audiences for his roles in "Domino" theatre plays such as "Vyrai pagal skelbimą", "Kažkas čia ne taip", and television projects including "Dviračio žinios", "Moterys meluoja geriau", "Rimti reikalai", "Monikai reikia meilės", and "Visi vyrai kiaulės". The play is directed by Dainius Kazlauskas, who has created audience-favorite and popular comedies such as "Vyrai pagal skelbimą", "Pianistai", "Boeing Boeing", "Psichai", and "Tobuli melagiai".
The comedy "Caveman" explores a topic that will likely never go out of style – the relationships between men and women and their dynamics. The play reveals witty gender differences in everyday situations that both men and women will recognize themselves in. Have you ever wondered why men cannot multitask, or why women get so angry about a splashed bathroom mirror again? In the comedy "Caveman", which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary on the Lithuanian stage, we will examine an inexhaustible topic – men, women, and their relationships. We will try to understand gender differences, similarities, and laugh at life situations in which we will recognize ourselves. We will learn that, although the world changes, we are still dealing with the same issues since the days of the "caveman".
"The themes of the play are timeless, at least as long as men and women, their relationships, and gender differences exist. Every production of 'Caveman' is based on current events, so the play is constantly evolving. If you saw the play five or ten years ago, you will see completely different situations now," says director Dainius Kazlauskas.
The play is produced in collaboration with Theater Mogul.
