Guided tour of Barbara Kasten's exhibition "Post-Abstraction"

The M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art (V. Putvinskio St. 55, Kaunas) invites you to guided tours of Barbara Kasten's exhibition "Post-Abstraction". During the tour, we will invite you to take a closer look at the work of the Lithuanian-American artist Barbara Kasten, spanning nearly six decades. The exhibition presents about 80 photographs, sculptures, and installations, revealing the artist's consistent explorations of light, color, structure, and space. We will talk about how Kasten turned photography into a tool not only for capturing images but also for creation – by using mirrors, geometric shapes, color, and light, she creates visual situations where photography, sculpture, and architecture intertwine. During the tour, we will observe how light becomes an independent means of artistic expression, and how reflections and optical illusions change our usual perception of space.
