Interwar intelligentsia. A visit with Colonel D. Grabys

This is more than just an excursion. It is also a visit to the home of Colonel Domininkas Grabys, who lived in Panemunė during the interwar period, and his family. In Panemunė, a resort area of wealthy villas and a residential district for officers in the temporary capital, military engineer and Colonel Domininkas Grabys built a life with his family during the interwar years. He was the first and last head of the Linkaičiai armament workshops, awarded the 3rd Class Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1933 and the Lithuanian Independence 10th Anniversary Commemorative Medal. D. Grabys was a prominent state and public figure. Today, nearly a century later, in order to honor the memory of their great-grandfather D. Grabys, his great-grandchildren have opened the doors of their home to us as well. The villa is named "Grabytė" in honor of their grandmother. A 40-minute walk through Panemunė and a cozy visit to the "Grabytė" villa await you. Here, you will hear stories about the intelligentsia of independent Lithuania and their lives. We will not only touch authentic, preserved items belonging to the Grabys family but also hear heart-wrenching stories.
