Part I Johann sebastian bach: Suite No. 5 in C minor, BWV 1011 Fantasia and Fugue in G minor, BWV 537 Sonata No. 2 in D major, BWV 1028 Part II PĒTERIS VASKS – "Gramata čellam" ("Book for Cello"): Fortissimo Pianissimo OLIVIER MESSIAEN: From the cycle "La Nativité du Seigneur" ("The Nativity of the Lord"): "La Vierge et l'Enfant" ("The Virgin and the Child") "Les Bergers" ("The Shepherds") "Les Anges" ("The Angels") "Les Mages" ("The Magi") "Dieu parmi nous" ("God Among Us") "Louange à l'Éternité de Jésus" ("Praise to the Eternity of Jesus") from the cycle "Quatuor pour la fin du temps" ("Quartet for the End of Time") in B-flat major

In this concert, one of the most prominent Lithuanian cellists, Gleb Pyšniak, and the renowned national organist, Dainius Sverdiolas, will create a rare musical dramaturgy, and listeners can expect an unprecedented impression – the authentic organ will resonate on the Kaunas State Philharmonic stage.

The program features cello solo, organ solo, and a dialogue between the two as three modes of storytelling: a monologue, another monologue, and, finally, a symbiosis of both instruments. The stylistic axis shifts as well: an organic, meaningful tension unfolds between Johann Sebastian Bach and contemporary music, opening up the concert's musical horizon.

This is a musical journey where Baroque polyphony, 20th–21st-century modernism, and contemporary sacred impulses reveal how musical tradition can evolve and become a living, continuous process.

Here, music develops in time, acquires new meanings, and highlights different interpretive aspects. For the listener, this provides a rare opportunity to hear not only individual works but also their mutual dialogue, structural connections, and the composer's path of thought.

This concert opens up a broader academic understanding of classical music masterpieces and their interaction, promising a personal joy of discovery.
