The Age of Posthumanism. A conversation between philosophers Daiva Tamošaitytė and Gintautas Mažeikis

On October 2 at 6:00 PM, in the Gallery of the Ąžuolynas Library (Radastų St. 2, 4th floor), two philosophers – Daiva Tamošaitytė and Gintautas Mažeikis – will discuss the age of posthumanism. We invite you to join us and seek answers to questions together: is man still the master of his own destiny when technologies begin to change not only the world, but the very concept of humanity? Are artificial intelligence, biotechnologies, and ideologies of globalism shaping a new image of man, sometimes promising progress, sometimes spiritual emptiness? Does technological power truly make a person freer, or does it gradually take away their autonomy and responsibility? Philosophy rarely offers a single answer, but it does help us better understand where we come from and where we are heading. The speakers will discuss not only the issues of the age of posthumanism but will also introduce Daiva Tamošaitytė's latest book, "The Age of Posthumanism: The End of Humanism or God, Artificial Intelligence, and Man – Who Creates Whom?". During the event, it will be possible to purchase the author's books. Daiva Tamošaitytė is a Doctor of Philosophy, culturologist, publicist, pianist, and music critic. A member of the Lithuanian Musicians' Union and the Lithuanian Writers' Union, she has published over 700 articles in the cultural press, 50 scientific articles, and 7 books. Gintautas Mažeikis is a philosopher, writer, and publicist. He studied in Leningrad, defended his dissertation at Vilnius University, and has lived and taught in Kaunas at Vytautas Magnus University since 2008. He has published ten monographs, which are linked by the analysis of various symbolic forms of thinking, behavior, and propaganda, based on critical theory and anthropology. The event continues the series of open lectures and conversations "And How Is It Really?" started in the spring, which is dedicated to discussing current issues and delving into social, cultural, and geopolitical topics. Here, we consider how modern narratives are created, how public opinion is formed, and what influence all of this has on us.
