Elegance, playfulness, romance, and magic – all in one evening. The Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra invites you on a musical journey "Through French Gardens," where different faces of French music will be revealed – from refined lightness and dance to colorful orchestral fantasy.

J. Offenbach's temperamental and well-known overture to the operetta "Orpheus in the Underworld" is a musical firework, full of humor, energy, and playfulness. The famous "can-can" featured within it will immediately draw you into the bustle of 19th-century Paris.

Ch. Gounod's waltz from the opera "Faust" is a graceful, sparkling, and enchanting piece that reveals the elegance of French Romanticism. A completely different, more refined, and dreamy mood will be created by G. Fauré's orchestral suite "Masques et bergamasques," where subtle melodies, dance rhythms, and a light touch of melancholy merge into a special musical atmosphere.

P. Dukas's symphonic poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is true musical magic. In this piece, inspired by Goethe's ballad, a young apprentice's prank turns into uncontrollable chaos. The ever-accelerating rhythm, memorable motif, and growing power of the orchestra create a tense, playful, and impressive finale.

A special place in the evening's program will be held by J. Ibert's "Concertino da Camera" for saxophone and orchestra. This virtuosic, colorful, and temperamental piece will allow you to hear an unexpected dialogue between classical music and the saxophone, where technical mastery, French lightness, and jazz nuances meet. This piece will be performed together with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra by guest from Norway, Soran Lind.

Norwegian saxophonist Soran Lind is a bright star of the new generation of performers, enchanting listeners with his virtuosity, expressive sound, and exceptional stage energy. He has already performed with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and other prominent ensembles, and his performances have been broadcast on NRK, BBC Radio, and Danish and Latvian radio. One of the most important moments in S. Lind's career is his 2025 debut at the legendary Vienna Musikverein hall. An actively performing soloist, he is also a chamber and contemporary music performer who participates in international festivals and presents the latest works.

"Through French Gardens" is an evening where you will discover France not on a map, but in music. Awaited here are the bustle of Paris, the elegance of romantic gardens, the lightness of dance, the colors of the saxophone, and the magic of the sorcerer's world.
