Experiential tours at the VMU Botanical Garden and the Lithuanian Zoological Garden

On the final day of the 'Be ryšio' (Disconnected) Stories Festival, we invite you to slow down and experience connection in a different way – through observation, listening, sounds, scents, and being together. The Sunday program will span two spaces – the VMU Botanical Garden and the Lithuanian Zoo, where experiential tours for children and adults will await. Vmu botanical garden | 10:00, 13:00, 16:00 A slow walk through the Botanical Garden will invite you to experience the environment by focusing on plants, natural sounds, scents, and shapes. On a route created especially for the Stories Festival, visitors will find sensory stations inviting them to slow their pace, observe, and hear what we might pass by every day. At one of the stations, educator Jokūbas Goscevičius from the Folk Music Department of the Kaunas City Museum will be waiting for participants of all three tours. Here, it will be possible to try out various musical instruments, explore the sounds they produce, and look for connections between the sound of the instruments and nature – plants, animals, and other sounds of the living world. While observing the zoo's inhabitants, we will talk about what connects humans and animals, how this relationship has changed, and what responsibility it gives us for another living being. At 11:00, the tour will be led by Kaunas City Museum educator Simona Sprainaitytė. During it, we will get acquainted with the history of the Lithuanian Zoo and the personality of Tadas Ivanauskas. Traveling through the zoo, using historical photographs, we will see how its different places looked in the past, and while visiting the animals living here, we will look for what connects us to them. 14:00 and 17:00 tours will be led by Lithuanian Zoo educators. On September 27, visitors will be able to explore both spaces independently, and at the Lithuanian Zoo, special festival tasks 'Find out how we are similar' will additionally await them. By following clues, you will search for 8 zoo inhabitants and discover similarities between humans and animals. FESTIVAL GIFT. You can get a set of stickers with illustrations of plants and animals created especially for the festival in one of two ways: by visiting both the VMU Botanical Garden and the Lithuanian Zoo, or by completing special Stories Festival tasks at the Lithuanian Zoo. Visit both places On the same day, we invite you to visit both festival partners – after visiting one place, a 50% discount applies to the ticket to the other. At the VMU Botanical Garden: admission is free for children under 6. For everyone else – a 50% discount on the visitor ticket if you visited the Lithuanian Zoo on the same day (you must show your ticket). At the Lithuanian Zoo: admission is free for children under 3. For visitors from 3 years old – a 50% discount on the ticket if you visited the VMU Botanical Garden on the same day (you must show your ticket). Registration for tours is mandatory.
