On World Music Day, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra invites you to start the new season where the true power of music begins – with emotion. This evening's program brings together two different, yet incredibly powerful worlds – the dramatic classical beauty of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the passionate temperament of Georges Bizet's "Carmen".

The concert will begin with one of the most famous symphonies of all time – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550. This music is far from just elegant and refined classical music. It is filled with anxiety, tension, drama, and strong emotions. The very first bars draw you into an intense musical narrative, and the famous main theme is perhaps one of the most recognizable melodies in classical music. Mozart's 40th is a work that proves that even 18th-century music can sound surprisingly modern and speak of emotions that we recognize even today.

In the second part of the concert, the audience will be invited into a completely different world – Georges Bizet's "Carmen". Both popular suites from the opera will be performed – No. 1 and No. 2, in which passion, freedom, love, danger, and spirited Spanish rhythms intertwine. The music of "Carmen" requires no prior preparation – it simply enchants. "Habanera", "Seguidilla", "Aragonaise", "Intermezzo", "Toreador March", and other melodies transport the listener straight into the colorful world of Seville.

From Mozart's inner tension to Bizet's passionate temperament – this concert will be like a journey through different faces of music. There will be no shortage of subtlety, drama, or melodies that you will want to take home with you.
