Kaunas State Philharmonic is organizing an event for the first time, specially adapted for families raising children with sensory challenges. Through stories and live music, children will be able to not only listen but also experience the concert in a form that is clear and acceptable to them.
On October 11, parents, grandparents, and guardians with children with special needs are invited to dare to open the doors of the Kaunas State Philharmonic and participate in the educational performance "Musical Stories of the Five" adapted for them. In this event, guests from the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra will playfully tell the listeners about their instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, bass clarinet), and the presentation of each instrument will be accompanied by a short musical piece that best reveals its timbre.
At the beginning of the interactive musical performance, its hosts – actors Karolina Žernytė and Martynas Kavaliauskas – will introduce the young listeners to the rules of listening to concerts and performances and behavior in the hall. They will agree on when to listen and when they can ask questions. And then, five LNOBT orchestra musicians – Karolina Daukšienė, Vilius Kalvėnas, Vytenis Matutis, Vytautas Giedraitis, and Lukas Sarpalius – will tell the children about their best friends: Pauvelina the flute, Bufė Kramponas Ležanas the clarinet, Stasė the French horn, Mr. Bass the bass clarinet, and Linas Obuolinas the oboe. We have no doubt that thanks to this company of vocal pranksters, a beautiful friendship with the Kaunas State Philharmonic will begin.
To ensure a more comfortable and predictable experience for children, the duration of the musical performance taking place in the Small Hall is 30 minutes, but if necessary, it will be possible to go to the spaces next to the hall at any time, where quiet corners will await the children. During the concert, children will be free to move around and use their own headphones.
