December is a special time when the festive bustle at the end of the year invites us to pause, look back at the path we have traveled, and immerse ourselves in a world of great emotions. At this special moment of the year, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra invites you to a unique concert featuring the monumental, sensual music of Ludwig van Beethoven and Richard Wagner, which embodies eternal human values.

The concert program will begin with L. van Beethoven's "Leonore" Overture – a dramatic and majestic musical journey from darkness to light, from despair to liberation. It is music about the strength of the human spirit, loyalty, and victory, full of tension, heroic drive, and unwavering hope.

A completely different – mysterious and intoxicating – space of emotions will be opened by Richard Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" Prelude and the Liebestod. One of the most famous masterpieces of Romantic music tells of a love that transcends all boundaries and becomes a promise of eternity. In Wagner's otherworldly beautiful music, longing, passion, pain, and fulfillment merge, and the impressive solo part will be performed by one of the most prominent dramatic mezzo-sopranos of her generation – Eglė Wyss.

The soloist, who has built an international career, has earned recognition for her intense and dramatic interpretations, and her repertoire includes an important place for the music of Wagner, Verdi, Strauss, and other great opera composers. Eglė Wyss has performed in prestigious European and world theaters, and the richness and emotional power characteristic of her voice are ideally revealed in the scores of the great Romantic repertoire.

The culmination of the concert will be one of the most significant scores in the entire history of music – L. van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica". A work that once fundamentally changed the very concept of the symphony, it still amazes today with its scale, power, and extraordinary spiritual energy. It is music about human greatness, struggle, loss, and victory – about heroism that is born not from unbreakable power, but from the ability not to give up.
