Course "Watercolor: Basics"

The Academy of Arts of the Faculty of Arts and Education at Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution invites you to the course "Watercolor: Basics", which will take place from 2026-11-06 to 2027-01-15. In this course, participants will acquire basic knowledge of watercolor techniques and how to master them, and will be introduced to color theory and the fundamentals of composition. By experimenting with water, pigment, and paper, they will create simple forms, seek harmonious relationships between colors and tones, develop color sensitivity and creativity, and hone their skills in depicting nature, stylization, and interpretation, while expressing unique artistic ideas. Participants will be introduced to the materials used for watercolor; theoretical and practical knowledge of watercolor techniques, color theory, fundamentals of composition, and experimental watercolor techniques. The course will encourage the ability to reveal an individual style by combining several techniques, while fostering and strengthening creativity and developing a sense of aesthetics, intuition, and spontaneity. The "Watercolor: Basics" course will take place on Fridays from 16:00 to 18:25 in the creative studios of the Faculty of Arts and Education's Academy of Arts, located at A. Mackevičiaus g. 27, Kaunas. The course will be led by Arvydas Martinaitis, a highly experienced lecturer, painter, and exhibition curator at the Faculty of Arts and Education's Academy of Arts. Course duration: 27 academic hours. Registration for the "Watercolor: Basics" course is open until October 19.
