Kaunas Dance Theatre Aura

Are you tired of putting off the life you keep promising to start tomorrow? Come to "Cabaret Favela" — here, for one night, you can become what you didn't dare to be during the day.

For one evening, the "Daina" movie theater becomes a city. Its name is Favela. Here, people work, create, fall in love, argue, plan for the future, and get ready for the night. The city comes alive everywhere at once: in the auditoriums, hallways, rooms, the bar, and among the audience.

"Cabaret Favela" is an immersive dance and theater performance inspired by the vibrancy, modernism, and faith in the future of interwar Kaunas — a period when the city was reinventing itself at an extraordinary pace, and its people were shaping their lives alongside it.

Eleven dancers from the Kaunas dance theater "Aura" take over the spaces of the "Daina" movie theater and create a living community into which the audience is drawn. There is no single stage here. There is no map. Nor is there a single "right" way to experience the performance.

Follow a person. Leave them behind. Change direction. Stop by a bar. Discover what other viewers might never see.

As day turns to night, the city changes too. Work gives way to pleasure, the everyday to the performance, and the people we just saw living their lives come together on the cabaret stage.

The performance will be in Lithuanian, English, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin.
