A unique theatre-féerie "Divine Michelangelo" in Kaunas!

Only on October 6 in Kaunas – a stunning theatre and opera féerie "Divine Michelangelo"!

At the request of many music fans captivated by the incredible theatre and opera show performance, on October 6 (Tuesday) at 7 PM, in a wonderful location – the cozy and prestigious Small Hall of the Kaunas State Philharmonic, with only 80 seats (the capacity of this acoustically magical and comfortable hall), a unique theatre and opera performance "Divine Michelangelo" (directed by legendary theatre director Aleksandras Rubinovas), dedicated to the Great Genius, will take place!

"Divine Michelangelo" – that is the name of this miracle, a fusion of drama, opera, artistic and poetic mastery – a subtle, sincere, sensual, and poetic work created by the wonderful theatre director and actor Aleksandras Rubinovas!

The hero of the new work is the great genius sent to us by the Almighty – Michelangelo Buonarroti! His life, complex love relationships, different from the ordinary, the poetry full of his soul, and, of course, his unique creativity became the basis of this exceptional spiritual celebration, brought to life by a team of wonderful artists gifted with multifaceted creative talents:

The charming actress Daiva Škelevaitė has taken on a highly dynamic role, Benjamin Britten's vocal cycle "7 Sonnets of Michelangelo" – a work rarely performed due to the extreme complexity of the vocal technique – is perfectly handled by opera tenor Mindaugas Zimkus, who is accompanied by, and also performs other compositions, the excellent pianist Paulė Gudinaitė! The stage action is enriched by ingenious video projections that effectively depict the Genius's work, his paintings, and sculptural masterpieces! Of course, a big thank you to the soul of this unique spiritual feast and the creator of the visuals, poet Violeta Šablinskaitė, who perfectly translated a dozen sincere sonnets of the Great messenger of heaven to humanity – Michelangelo – from the old Italian language!

Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475–1564) – the divine Italian sculptor, artist, architect, poet, and thinker. One of the greatest geniuses of the Renaissance and early Baroque – it is he who is considered the true "father of the Baroque" in architecture.

His works were considered the highest achievements of Renaissance art even during the master's own lifetime. Michelangelo lived for almost 89 years – an entire era, from the High Renaissance period to the origins of the Counter-Reformation. During this period, thirteen popes were replaced – he completed commissions for nine of them. Many documents about his life and work have been preserved – testimonies of contemporaries, Michelangelo's own letters, contracts, and his personal and professional records. Michelangelo was also the first Western European artist whose biography was published while he was still alive. Among his most famous sculptural works are the statues of David, Bacchus, Pietà, Moses, Leah, and Rachel, intended for the tomb of Pope Julius II.
