Johannes brahms – love songs and waltzes

An international team of performers presents an exclusive chamber music program, "Johannes Brahms – Love Songs and Waltzes."

The concert will feature a musical form rarely heard in concert halls: vocal quartets accompanied by piano four-hands. The performers will present both of Johannes Brahms' famous "Liebeslieder Waltzes" cycles – Op. 52 and Op. 65, which interweave quartets, trios, duets, and solo songs. The diverse sound of the waltzes blends here with love poetry and the subtle spirit of Romanticism. The works are composed based on the verses of Georg Friedrich Daumer, which tell of the various emotions evoked by love.

Between the two opuses by J. Brahms, one of the most prominent works by Franz Schubert for piano four-hands will be performed – Fantasia in F minor, D 940, performed by pianists Justas Šervenikas and Johan Randvere.

This is an elegant and sensual program where poetry, voices, and the sound of the piano meet, revealing the various moods of love – from light playfulness to romantic longing.
