Nuepiko I author Tadas Almantas I N-16 Kaunas City Chamber Theatre, Small Hall Ticket price: 9.60 – 12 Eur "Sometimes Life Is Dark" is a dance-theatre performance about complex emotional states and the shadow side of a human being, which is often suppressed in various, sometimes even harmful ways. It is a play between the suffering person – the artist's inner experiences – and the absurdity of the outside world, permeated with black humor. These contradictions, constantly escalating into open conflict, are conveyed through a synthesis of dance, theatre, and music, requiring great emotional and physical effort. The performance is inspired by the nostalgic sound of the band "Mazzy Star" from the late 80s and early 90s, and the aesthetics of the lost rebellious generation of the end of the last century. Using absurd imagery and deliberately fragmented scenography, the creator invites the viewer on a journey through an inner world, darkened by real and imagined shadows. This journey is undertaken with the hope of escaping the labyrinth of pain and closing its doors, while searching for healthier ways to exist, live, and create along the way. The work is closely related to personal experiences familiar to almost everyone: experiencing failure, confronting oneself, seeking help during emotional crises, and questions of meaning. The performance invites you to start a dialogue about unspoken topics, to reflect, to accept inner darkness, and not to turn away from the complex aspects of your personality.
