KMKT I author Kristina Marija Kulinič I N-16 Kaunas City Chamber Theatre, Small Hall Ticket price: 9.60 – 12 Eur "Breaking news – the last dance for freedom?", – a performative one-act attempt by playwright, actress, and performance artist Kristina Marija Kulinič to reflect the spirit of today's era using the archetype of the biblical Salome. Salome, still a teenager, having charmed her stepfather with her dance, encouraged by her mother, asks for the head of John the Baptist to be presented to her on a silver platter. This story has fueled the imaginations of artists for many years; the most famous and established interpretation of the story is Oscar Wilde's play "Salome", in which the girl becomes a symbol of impossible/rejected love, passion, and a certain shadow side of a woman. In "Breaking News", Kulinič seeks a different perspective and invites us to explore what and who today's Salome could be. Immersing herself in themes of loneliness and a crisis of truth, Kulinič invites us to meet a Salome tormented by the (mis)perception of reality, desperately seeking connection and trying to break free. About the author: Kristina Marija Kulinič is a young generation playwright, actress, and director whose plays have been staged in Lithuania (dir. Gildas Aleksa, Artūras Areima, Ieva Jackevičiūtė) and at the Latvian National Theatre (dir. Artūras Areima). The artist wrote the play and directed the performance "Good Weather, If You Don't Think Too Much" (Vilnius Old Theatre).
