September 23 (Wednesday) 19:00 Kaunas City Chamber Theatre, Main Hall Event is free, registration is required "Mission" is a documentary play based on the true story of a young Lithuanian volunteer. Born from fifteen hours of interviews, the play tells the journey of Vaiva (name changed) to war-torn Ukraine – from working with children from Mariupol to volunteering in the zero zone. It is a story about a person who, despite the doubts and fears of those around her, chooses to follow her convictions. On stage, documentary material intertwines with poetry, live storytelling, and theatrical imagination. The heroine is accompanied by four actors, like angels of death or a chorus from an ancient tragedy – they tell the story, change characters, create fragments of memories, and allow the viewer to get closer to the experience of war without depicting it directly. The reality of war is complemented by the verses of Ukrainian poet Artur Dron, which open up a sensitive and authentic look at the everyday life of war. The play speaks about faith, values, the freedom to choose, and human solidarity, reminding us that even in the darkest moments, human determination and compassion can become the strongest form of resistance.
