September 24 (Thursday) 18:30 Kaunas City Chamber Theatre, Small Hall Event is free, registration required "Helver's Night" is a psychological story about human fragility, care, and the dehumanization of society in the face of totalitarianism. In a one-room apartment, Klara meets her ward Helver, an adult man with an intellectual disability. Their daily life is increasingly disrupted by violence rising in the streets: pogroms and persecutions are taking place in the city, militaristic propaganda is taking hold, and the shouts of aggressive crowds are heard closer and closer.

Helver, influenced by propaganda, desires to become a soldier himself and does not realize that the new system he so wants to belong to is also directed against people like him. Meanwhile, Klara tries with all her might to protect him from a world that is becoming increasingly cruel. As the external threat grows, their personal histories and the complex relationship between the caregiver and the ward are revealed.

The play speaks about the place of disabled people in society, the burden and responsibility experienced by caregivers, and sacrifice in the face of a fascist society. As the threat rises both on the street and at home, only one question spins in Klara's head – "How can they survive?"
