Interwar intelligentsia. Visiting Colonel D. Grabys

This is not just an excursion. It is also a visit to Colonel Domininkas Grabys and his family, who lived in Panemunė during the interwar period.

In the resort of wealthy villas of the temporary capital and the officers' residential district of Panemunė, military engineer and Colonel Domininkas Grabys also built his happiness with his family during the interwar period. He was the first and last head of the Linkaičiai armament workshops, awarded the 3rd Class Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas and the Lithuanian Independence 10th Anniversary Commemorative Medal in 1933.

D. Grabys was a famous state and public figure. Today, almost a century later, in order to honor the memory of their great-grandfather D. Grabys, his great-grandchildren have opened the doors of their home to us as well. The villa is named "Grabytė" in honor of his grandmother.

A 40-minute walk around Panemunė and a cozy visit to the "Grabytė" villa await you. Here you will hear stories about the intelligentsia of Independent Lithuania and their lives. We will touch not only authentic, preserved items of the Grabys family but also heart-wrenching stories.
