A Polish band that combines charismatic female vocals with folk-inspired melodies in a heavy metal setting. On stage, Runika combines the mystic arts with the power of the four elements, transporting the audience to times of epic battles, glorious feasts and incredible beasts hidden deep within thick forests.

Merkfolk was formed in early 2013, initiated by siblings Irmina and Rafał. Since November 2013, the band has performed regularly, including at the Polish Folk Metal Fan Gatherings, Ragnard Rock Festival (France), Kalevala Polish Tour, and Hellhammer Festival (Czech Republic). They have shared the stage with Percival Schuttenbach, Kalevala, Velicoruss, Arkona, Primordial, Nokturnal Mortum, Wardruna, Skiltron, The Moon and the Nightspirit, Nine Treasures, and others.

The band’s name, loosely translated from Norwegian, means „folk bearer.“ Merkfolk’s songs are catchy melodies played on accordion and violin, combined with heavy guitar and drum sound, topped with female growl vocals.
