There are concerts that become an evening, and there are concerts that become a part of history.
Celebrating 65 years of creativity, the Kaunas Wind Orchestra "Ąžuolynas" invites you to an exceptional anniversary concert – FESTUM 65. Over more than six decades, "Ąžuolynas" has become one of the most prominent professional wind music ensembles in Lithuania. Nurturing tradition while constantly seeking new forms of artistic expression, the orchestra creates programs where precise craftsmanship merges with creative courage. For the past decade, the orchestra's artistic direction has been shaped by chief conductor Giedrius Vaznys.
The program for this anniversary evening is like a musical journey through different worlds and eras. It will feature Ralph Vaughan Williams' poetic "The Lark Ascending," performed with the orchestra by international competition laureate and Europe-touring violinist Julija Andersson. You will also hear Omar Thomas' "Come Sunday," Kevin Day's Concerto for Wind Ensemble, works by Lithuanian composers, and other pieces from the global repertoire that reveal the extraordinary spectrum of colors, dynamics, and emotions of a wind orchestra.
FESTUM 65 is more than just an anniversary concert. It is an evening that resonates with the orchestra's history, creative maturity, and vision for the future. It is a thank you to everyone who has been part of this musical journey over the past 65 years, and an invitation to turn a new page together.
We invite you to be witnesses to this exceptional evening.
