"Nalšia" will once again delight not only fans of romances, but also admirers of P. Širvys' poetry

Romances, love songs, and retro music are currently popular, in demand, have their own audience, and are often heard in different spaces and at different times. They are performed by various artists – from folklore ensembles to opera soloists.

With love and admiration, the folklore ensemble "Nalšia" also weaves romance melodies – sometimes in the usual, "old-fashioned" way, and sometimes daring to deviate from authentic musical and singing traditions, choosing newer, more familiar sounds and interpretation paths for today's listener. For several years now, the ensemble has been striving to bring romances back to life, elevating them to the level of works worthy of high musical culture: starting with the words – singing the lyrics of the best Lithuanian poets, and ending with playing together with jazz pianist Rytas Lingė, who enriches the romance arrangements with new, unexpected colors.

This is exactly what the latest "Nalšia" program "I Sing Širvys" is. The exceptional lyricism of poet Paulius Širvys' most beautiful verses, the depth of his experiences, and the extraordinary personality of the poet himself are enchanting; the poems seem to beg to be sung. The synthesis of excellent poetry and the most beautiful romance melodies loved by people stirs the hearts of the NALŠIA singers, and we hope it will not leave the listeners indifferent either.

We will also present with great joy our long-nurtured, long-awaited new CD of romances and love songs with the same title, released on the occasion of the collective's 35th anniversary. The melodic lyrics of P. Širvys, woven with emotions and sung by "Nalšia" singers for nearly a decade, are finally immortalized and can be accessible to all lovers of both his poetry and romances. And for us, Širvys remains a true bard, and truly sung, it seems, still waiting by Vilnius, by the city of fairy tales...
