Tour "From the Labour Palace to the Culture Centre" │ HERITAGE DAYS

On the occasion of European Heritage Days, we invite you to a free tour "From the Labour Palace to the Culture Centre" at the Kaunas Culture Centre. Embark on an exploration of one of the most prominent buildings of the Kaunas Modernism period and discover the stories hidden behind its walls. During the one-hour tour, we will travel from the times of the former Labour Palace and the Trade Union Palace to the present-day Kaunas Culture Centre. During the tour: We will take a close look at the restored 1968 stained glass "Muses" by Bronius Grušas and other monumental art works in the building. We will visit the Grand Hall, the backstage, and the dressing rooms, and hear stories about the director Juozas Miltinis who worked here, as well as historical events associated with the building. We will revisit memories of the Trade Union Palace era, when choir rehearsals echoed here, ballroom dancing traditions were born, the "Klumpė" café was in operation, and active cultural life flourished. At the end of the tour, you will get to know the present-day Kaunas Culture Centre – the amateur art groups, studios, and creative communities operating here. Duration: 1 hour.
