Laisvės alėja (Liberty Avenue) experienced a golden age in Kaunas, the temporary capital of interwar Lithuania. Free Lithuania was building itself, Kaunas was building itself, and so was LA: cafes, restaurants, cinemas, bookstores, banks.. Let's take a walk along Kaunas' Laisvės alėja, breathing with the interwar spirit, and look for signs of that era. What was the Garrison Church going through at the time - to demolish or not to demolish? What kind of crowd gathered in the bohemian Konrad's cafe, and what kind in the elite Metropol restaurant? What films did Kaunas residents love the most? Why did they visit cinemas 7 times a month?

During the tour, we will admire Kaunas' interwar modernist architectural masterpieces, created by the most famous architects of that time. We will talk about the new hobbies, fascinations, and lifestyle of Kaunas residents of that era.
