Performers: Donatas petreikis quartet Donatas Petreikis (saxophone) Carl Winther (piano, Denmark) Heikko Remmel (double bass, Estonia) Anders Mogensen (drums, Denmark)
Program: original compositions by Donatas Petreikis from the album "Where I Belong"
The international quartet, led by saxophonist and composer Donatas Petreikis, will bring a powerful and swinging sound to the Kaunas State Philharmonic. The quartet's debut album "One Way" has garnered nearly a million streams on Spotify, and now the group is reuniting to bring this music back to the stage and present their new program, "Where I Belong."
The quartet features prominent jazz musicians from Denmark and Estonia: on piano is Carl Winther, one of Denmark's most renowned jazz pianists; on drums is Anders Mogensen, who has collaborated with artists such as Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Berg, Joel Frahm, Peter Bernstein, and others; and on double bass is Heikko Remmel, one of the most active and sought-after bassists in Estonia and Europe.
This concert will feature the presentation of D. Petreikis' latest album, "Where I Belong" – a direct sequel to "One Way," born from travels, experiences, and constant movement. While the first album received widespread listener attention, the music in the new program unfolds even more personally and deeply. It weaves together various experiences, but the theme of longing for home resonates most strongly – not just as a physical place, but as a search for an inner state. This is music about returning to where you truly belong.
