As the days grow shorter outside, we create light through music.
On the evening of November 14th, we invite you to an exclusive concert at the Kaunas State Philharmonic, where jazz history, contemporary interpretation, and one of Europe's most prominent jazz voices will meet.
"Centennial Trajectories" is a musical journey through time, dedicated to three figures whose names are inseparable from the golden age of jazz – Miles Davis, Mel Tormé, and Tony Bennett. Their music became a benchmark for entire generations of performers, and today it takes on a new sound in live interpretation. The special guest of the evening is the world-renowned Swedish trumpeter, vocalist, and composer Peter Asplund. His subtle trumpet sound, elegant vocals, and exceptional musical sensitivity have made him one of the most prominent creators in Scandinavian jazz. Throughout his career, he has performed with Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano, McCoy Tyner, Toots Thielemans, and other global jazz stars, and his work has been repeatedly recognized with the prestigious Swedish jazz award "Gyllene Skivan".
Performing on stage will be the Kaunas Big Band, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Over three and a half decades, the orchestra has become one of the most prominent symbols of Lithuanian jazz, famous for its professionalism, international projects, and ability to turn every concert into an exceptional musical experience.
This evening will blend American jazz tradition with European elegance, the freedom of improvisation, and the grandeur of orchestral sound. It is a concert where the past and present meet, where the legacy of legends merges with new creative energy. We invite you to experience an evening where music does not just sound – it tells stories, connects eras, and reminds us why jazz remains one of the most vibrant musical languages in the world.
Featuring: Peter Asplund (Sweden) – trumpet, vocals
