The Pažaislis Music Festival invites you to an exceptional concert where voice and the sound of cellos meet. The program is presented by the internationally acclaimed bass-baritone Kostas Smoriginas and the cello quintet "Cello Club". In the program, Baroque music works are reborn in a new form – in the arrangements of composer Dominykas Digimas, they take on a contemporary sound, and the dramaturgy of the concert is inspired by the world of ancient tragedies. The combination of one voice and five cellos creates a rich and cohesive musical space, where similar timbres merge into a hypnotic sound. In this context, early music opens up in a new way – sensitively, dramatically, and unexpectedly. Singing on international stages, K. Smoriginas embarks on a musical journey to the origins of opera in this project – to where a new relationship between voice, text, and music was born in the Baroque era. The "Cello Club" ensemble consists of prominent Lithuanian cellists, whose musical dialogue with the voice allows for a re-experience of Baroque era music. This concert is a meeting between the past and the present, where historical tradition is interpreted through a contemporary lens.
