Andrius Kaniava. NIGHT AT THE THEATRE

"Night at the Theatre" is music and songs that I have encountered myself. It is a significant span of time – almost a quarter of a century – from the life of "Aukštyn kojom" (Upside Down) to "The Bremen Town Musicians". It is music that, as a child, a young man, a student, I listened to while sitting on the theatre stairs and saw myself in it. These are songs that never had the chance to reach the limelight, but have such a dramaturgical charge that they simply beg to be on stage. Not that they just beg... They haunt, crawl through the window, push through every crack, and demand to be heard," says singing actor Andrius Kaniava. "And, I think, that night has come!"

"You might ask – why not an evening? And you would be right! Evening is the time when one involuntarily wants to wander into the theatre. But the stage is full of music, lights, and theatre magic in the evening; at night – it remains empty! And then it becomes open to the past. They say that at night in the theatre, you can hear the voices of the Great Artists who have passed into the afterlife, the ovations of audiences from past times, and music...

Unfortunately, plays do not have lasting value... They remain only in the memory of those who saw them. And music is what gives us the opportunity to remember the plays that changed the lives of many of us."

The program will feature songs from the musicals "Love and Death in Verona", "The Hunt for Fire with Beaters", from the plays "Eternal Lust", "I Went to the Station", "Rule No. 1 or Dreaming of Vilnius is Forbidden", "The Knight of the Sad Countenance", and many other beloved plays. And let's not forget the songs of Andrius Kulikauskas, Tom Waits, and 4 Non Blondes, as well as the legendary plays "Aukštyn kojom" and "The Last Bremen Town Musicians". Shall we meet?
