Presentation of Aldona Ruseckaitė's book "Naktiniai pokalbiai"

We invite you to the presentation of Aldona Ruseckaitė's latest book, "Naktiniai pokalbiai. Juozo Tumo-Vaižganto ir Ričardo Mikutavičiaus gyvenimo paralelės" (Night Conversations. Life Parallels of Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas and Ričardas Mikutavičius), which will take place on September 29 at 6:00 PM at the Kaunas Vincas Kudirka Public Library, Laisvės al. 57. Along with the author, actress Daiva Škelevaitė and actor/director Aleksandras Rubinovas will participate in the event. "Readers often ask me what I will write about next. Maybe about Vaižgantas now? I didn't intend to, I would say, because so much has been written about this classic. During meetings in Kaunas, another question often comes up – will you write about the priest and poet Ričardas Mikutavičius? I didn't intend to do that either, I would reply, there are still many who remember him (although, unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer of them...), I would be afraid of not pleasing them, and his death is complex, conspiracy theories still circulate... However, deep in my heart, love for the classic Vaižgantas had been smoldering for many years, and I felt as if I owed a debt to Father Ričardas – not a personal one, although we were good acquaintances and communicated quite a bit. The debt remained a museum one. He cherished the Maironis Lithuanian Literature Museum, visited it, and most importantly, was a generous patron who donated hundreds of old valuable books bought in antique shops, and sometimes provided financial support. He greatly valued, respected, and even loved Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas and helped establish his museum. All of this could have remained at peace. I didn't really have such creative plans. But it's strange – I didn't have real peace either. Thoughts kept popping up: aha, priests Juozas and Ričardas were pastors at the Kaunas Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Vytautas the Great), both lived in the same apartment, both lived to the same age on this earth, both were great orators and attracted crowds... That is how this book came to be," says Aldona Ruseckaitė, inviting you to the meeting. The event will be photographed.
