DESCRIPTION:
About the old, old Kaunas.
A tour by guide RIMUTĖ:
How many castles were there in Kaunas and which duke has been unfairly forgotten? And where did the Crusader castles stand? What royal matchmaking took place in Kaunas, and what about weddings?
About the times when trade and crafts flourished. About the times when fines were paid in bricks, and pigs could roam freely in the streets to fatten up. About wars, diseases, fires. About the city's golden age and times of poverty. About monks, the first churches, cemeteries, punishments, the food of the townspeople, and disputes between foreign and local merchants.
Kaunas' Pompeii is only now revealing secrets kept for centuries; the signs left in the Old Town reveal that the city was once important and colorful. We will flip through the pages of history of the medieval city, right up to the fateful year of 1795.
